How a final drive works

By lowering RPMs and raising torque, a final drive’s primary purpose is to lower the propeller shaft’s speed. Everything starts when the transmitted torque of the final drive engine is distributed between the two driving tracks, allowing the final drive to be turned at a 90-degree angle.

Wear on Liebherr final drives

A final drive will deteriorate over time. Play between the gears appears as the gears deteriorate. Everything should ideally work together without any problems. Wear becomes noticeable if you can move the bearings and gears back and forth by hand.

Replacing one single part is unwise

In the event of wear, we suggest replacing the entire final drive. If only one component is changed, it will deteriorate extremely quickly. This is due to the fact that when earlier parts are already somewhat worn, the new part will shortly wear out.

Timely replacement

Regular use will cause a Liebherr final drive to wear out. The longer this continues, it is more likely that a big movement can cause gears to wear out. To avoid downtime, the final drive must be replaced as soon as possible.
